Today, I took my longest run in 11 years.
I ran 13 miles—much of it up a fairly steep hill.
During my run, I noticed a wildflower that I’ve seen many times before. It blooms this time of year. I wanted to take a picture of it, and hopefully, identify it.
So after my run, I got in my car and drove to where I saw the best specimen got out, camera in hand. I limped over to it with my swollen knees and screaming sacrum, snapped this picture, eased myself back into my car, and drove home.
I thought it was an Indian Paintbrush, but after sitting on an icepack, scouring the web and looking through many books, I couldn’t find a picture or information on it.
Do you know what it is?
Do you know anyone who might?

It resembled a photo in an old wildflower book of mine - Indian Warrior, Pedicularis densiflora, so I looked that up.
Google says it's a root parasite and used in herbal medicine.
Still looks to me as if someone pasted a red salvia on a painted fern!!

Annie, I looked up Indian Warrior. It certainly looks similar. It's a gorgeous plant. It's all over the mountains this time of year. Thank you for taking the time.
