You know there are a lot of important decisions that we humans have to make every day.
Well, I guess non-humans have to make important decisions also. Like cats, cats have to decide between rodents or birds. Dogs have to decide between dog food or the pot roast on the counter. Snails have to decide petunias or foxgloves.
But I’m talking about humans here. We have to decide how to invest our money so we have a big enough retirement. What about charities? What charity will really make a difference? What schools should we send our kids to? How can we as individuals make a difference in slowing global warming?
And as for me, the subject that has been on my mind for over a week is whom I should tag for the Eight Things You Don’t Know About Me meme. Sarah from Gardener's Gazette tagged me. I’ve never been tagged before so bear with me.
As I said I was tagged over a week ago and I have been going back and forth about what to do. I know it sounds pathetic. And I’m spending way too much time on this but I don’t want to bother any one and I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feeling. And I know a lot of fellow bloggers have already been tagged with memes, some multiple times. I know I’m supposed to tag 8 other people but I’m only going to tag one.
I am tagging Amber at Blueberry Basil. Amber is relatively new in the blogosphere. She is a very talented writer and I enjoy reading her blog so I thought I would share her with you.
There is another reason why this has been so hard for me. Quite frankly, most of the interesting things about me can’t be publish on the Internet so I had to think of the ones I could share with the world. Here goes.
I had a brief stint as a stunt double.
I also had a brief career as an underwater model.
I earned my black belt at 42, and learned to surf at 47—and I love it.
I learned to skateboard at the age of 49 and I try to do so every day after school with my eight-year-old son. Stay tuned for the hospital emergency room story.
I’ve raised $260,000 to buy land for the Guanacaste reserve rainforest in Costa Rica.
I once saved a man’s life by pulling him out of a burning building. I saved his hamster too.
I gave birth to a 9½-pound baby with a big head and lived to skateboard with him and his brother.
I met my husband at a Hunter S. Thompson lecture at UC Berkeley. I was instantly attracted to him because he was telling a story about meat-eating robots.
After reading this I hope you decide to come back to my blog.
Oh wait here are the meme rules:
When tagged you must list the person who tagged you and post the rules. At the end of the post you must tag and link to 8 other people.
Oops, I totally screwed this up.
Oh well.
Do as I say, not as I do.
By the way, my husband made me put in the thing about my black belt so I guess that is technically nine things, Sorry.

Very interesting, and of course, I'll still come and read your blog.
What ever happened with that big bug you were all bugged out about?

I learned some new and cool things about you. It's great that you've raised so much money for a good cause. (I'd love to hear more about the stunt double, the underwater model.) You never cease to amaze me with all that you do - and I know there are many other things you do as well ... like your mosaics, learning Spanish and the list goes on - devoted mum, lots of friends, a wonderful sense of humour etc. I'm off to check Amber's blog now!

LOL I like the fact that you saved that man AND his hamster. Well done you!!!!!
And I can understand why you were instantly attracted to your hubby; I mean, what woman doesn't like hearing a story about meat eating robots. Sooooo romantic! ;-)

If the things you mentioned are not the most interesting--then you must be a really fascinating person! I think you've had an interesting life from the looks of it. And, you are older than I suspected-you look quite young in your photo. Lucky you!

Carol,
The big icky bug was removed by my eight-year-old. I paid him in time on his nentendo to do it.
Kate,
I learned some fascinating things doing underwater work, like how to smile and hold my breath while keeping my eyes wide open, looking relaxed even though everything is blurry and my eyes are stinging and not letting little bubbles gather in my nostrils, things that I can definitely use later in life.
Yolanda,
My husband is weird. But he is brilliant,
goofy and a lot of fun. Never a dull moment in our house. Despite the meat-eating robots, I made the right choice.
Aiyana,
Thank you.
I'm going to be 50 on my next birthday but in my mind I'm 23.

It didn't seem possible for you to be any cooler, but you did it, Chigiy- not just with the Hunter S Thompson story but all of it.
The new comment thing on Blogspot seems to be a big pain for you in other journaling formats. Bill at Prairie Point gave some advice to Austin's Pam/Digging when she posted about being frustrated with the change.

Annie,
Thank you for your nice comment and for the information about the frustrating change. And it is frustrating.
