Today we’re getting our septic tanks pumped—yeah!
Those of you who don’t live in the mountains don’t get to experience the joy of the backed up septic system. That’s right folks, it backs right up into our house. What an adventure.
We had ten inches of rain in two weekends, two weeks apart, and our poor little septic system just couldn’t handle it—even with the two 1500 gallon tanks and the hundreds of feet of leach lines. Oh, nay, nay, it just backed right up. I don’t really know why, after all our water system isn’t working correctly either, and neither are our phone lines for that matter. Oh yah, our heater is broken too.
When it rains it pours, so to speak.
All this weather leads to little gardening and lots of mosaic-ing.
My latest project, a table, is coming along nicely. I have given up my knitting for my mosaics—which is kind of inconvenient. A lot of my friends knit. When we’re different places together like coffee houses, restaurants, parties.
They can just pull out their knitting and go. I’ve thought of bringing my table but I don’t have a big enough purse.

Oh, my - we had a septic system when I was a kid so I know this is not fun, Chigiy. Hope you can get the infrastructure under control and relax a little.
The mosaic looks cool so far, but what caught my eye was the jar - maman jars come in so handy, and there's only one way to get an empty one. My favorite is cherry - what's yours?

Why can't you be a knitter, mosaic-er AND a gardener? That way you can have a portable project, an inside one, and an outside one. Perfect for all situations. Love ya! Cheer up and Happy Valentine's Day!!

That muck truck looks positively divine, all glowing in the sun like that. Deliverance! ;)

P.S. Have you considered, perhaps, working on something like coasters while out and about? I bet those tools & tiles weigh almost nothing!

Hi Chingy - the table looks so cool! I've always wanted to do one of these myself and now you've got me thinking of it again. Where did you get your materials? Do you have a book to show you what to do or did you take a class?

Your septic tank issue is like a blast out of the past for me. I remember those trucks coming to our farm to pump out the septic tanks. We always took off because of the smell! You table top looks like it will be gorgeous. Hope you show the finished product soon.

Annie,
My husband is a huge fan of blueberry and so are my boys. We go through about one jar every 3-4 days. I have about 50 empty jars which I use to sort my sea glass. I also use them to cut my vitreous glass squares into so the glass doesn't scatter all over.
Thanks Amber,
You're right. I can have it all! Life is good.
Happy V-day to you too.xox
Jacqueline,
I love that picture of the truck. It does look so God-like. And to me it was.
I do mosaic switch plates, maybe I could do those in the knitting circle.
Gina,
I use a lot of sea glass that I collect. With this particular table I am using sea glass, broken jade glass and vitreous glass tiles along with other broken odds and ends. My friends give me lots of broken stuff. I get the vitreous glass on ebay.

Aiyana,
It would have been nice to be able to take off because of the smell. But nooooo, I had to lean over into it while the guy explained what was going on with both tanks. Icky.
Pam,
Thank you, I will.

Oh How fun that must of been. We haven't had our septic tank pumped. But had a back up when someone flushed a paper towels(bad). Don't want to relive that anytime soon.
I love your table, it is really looking good.

Gosh, the fun never ends for you up on that mountain where you live, does it? Maybe your local coffee shop will let you set up your mosaic work on a table there, as long as you leave the finished top for others to enjoy.

Sorry to hear about the septic tank. There is one at our family cottage and so I know what happens when it's not working properly.
Your mosaic table is gorgeous - I love the design and the colours. It made me remember the mosaics that you were working on for your husband.
There's always the possibility of knitting just when you're with the knitting coffee friends. I kind of like the idea of taking along your mosaic tools.
