April 2008 Gardener Blogger's Bloom Day

April_08_gbbd_10

Oh Geez.

My life is like pushing oatmeal uphill.
I completely forgot about Gardener Blogger’s Bloom Day.
Sorry Carol.
Carol of May Dreams Gardens is the gardening guru behind GBBD.
I was supposed to post this on the 15th and it’s late at night on the 16th and I’m going to have to use the pictures I took earlier this week. The pictures I have represent about a third of what’s in bloom.
Next month I’ll try to be better.

My favorite is that columbine photo. Aren't they just the most graceful flower? I have planted a few of them this spring. They work well in a shady area on the north side of the house. I had tulips and hyacinths there last year - but all that came back up this year were two hyacinths that were looking pretty puny.

wow, beautiful pictures. it's amazing to me that you have daffodils, tulips ,verbena and brugansia all the same time, those bloom at very different times here in MD. I love California!

Lovely and colourful blooms and so many too. That is worth waiting for. ;-) Love that salvia hot lips and I see that we have a lot of blooms in common.

I'd so you're doing pretty good in your garden if this is one third of what is blooming for you right now!

You have a great selection of flowers in bloom now Chigiy. I love the Cymbidium and the Brugmansia.

The Brugmansia is beautiful. I've learned that Brugmansia suaveolens can grow here in containers for the patio, but I can't find them in any nursery--a sure sign they really don't do all that well. Do you have any idea which species your white one belongs to?
I've been trying to get in my MG volunteer hours before it gets too hot, but I refuse to volunteer for any activity that requires a costume. It sometimes limits my opportunities!

We both have 'Hot Lips' salvia and Siberian iris, but the similarity ends there - orchids, tulips, bleeding heart and Brugmansia, all at once... it's like an old MGM movie where the flowers of all seasons bloomed together. What a pretty time of year this must be for you!

I'm glad you posted the 'Hot Lips', Chigiy.... yours looks like mine with different patterns of red and white on the petals. Pam/Digging somehow made her salvia's blossoms all match.
