Even here in Iowa the Columbines have been blooming like crazy this year! I'm totally jealous of yours, though. LOVE the white one!

Chigiy these are beautiful. Have you sketched and watercolored them???? Probably hard to find time due to all the gardening you are doing right now and the traveling to nurseries far and wide!

I'm sure glad you decided to show the columbines, Chigiy - love this plant but can't keep it alive in my Texas garden. You have so many pretty ones!
The purple Granny's Bonnets are cute, but those long-spurred beauties were my faves in IL.

Gina,
Thank you. I'm flattered!
Sally,
I love columbine. I save the seeds but they are fickle and I can never tell what color they will be next season.
Amber,
Yes, I have about as much free time as you do. I did paint a columbine in my journal though.
Hi Annie,
Yes they do like the weather a little cooler. They go crazy here as you can see. They reseed like mad every year.

Very pretty! I guess columbine comes in a myriad of colors--far more than I knew about before. Haven't seen one I didn't like.

Aiyana,
They come in many more colors than I knew also. They also come in different shapes and heights.

What do you fertilize with? They are gorgeous. Mine pale in comparison!

Sivia,
I wish I could give you a good answer but I don't have one. I don't fertilize that garden. Everything in it just does really good there. I did start off a couple years ago with organic compost. When I do fertilize I use worm tea. But I have never used it there.
