Hey, guess what? Remember that fabulous marble fountain?
Remember how I wanted my darling husband to make me one just like it? Well after looking several places for the perfect pot and the right ceramic bowl and the best place to find mables, I found the very same pot.
The exact same pot at, none other than—Target (pronounced tar-CHAY).
The whole set up was there. The pot, the bowl that the pot sits in to hold the recirculating water, everything you need to do a marble fountain except the marbles. The price was a very reasonable. The entire set-up was $199.00. The only thing you need to add is the marbles.
When I find a good inexpensive way to get marbles I’ll let you know.
that is a good story. I am glad my Target is far away. I can spend too much money and too much time in that place. Have you thought abot sending your boys out with marbles and beating a lot of the other kids out of their marbles ? ha!

I *love* Tar-jay! This fountain is so very cool. I wish I could have something like this in my yard (no outdoor electrical connection). You might also try Good Will or flea markets for cheap (and cool) marbles. You can always start off with some cheapies and add more as you find them.

IKEA has several glass bead options that might work really well for you and I can't believe how inexpensive everything there is! I can't go to Target because it is impossible to leave that store without spending $75. To think that I used to lament that they were only in Florida and all we had in CT was Bradlees!

I just loved your marble fountain find! Since it would take a whole lot of marbles to fill your pot, are you planning to add some free non-disintegrating materials like milk containers, rocks or popcorn peanuts? Are you going to make the water recyle through by putting some kind of tray below? Can't wait to see the fountain working in your garden!!

Hi Laurel,
You need a particular type of pot made to be a fountain. It is kind of like an upside down pot. It has a concave top with a small hole in the middle to hold the marbles. The pump is placed in the bottom of the pot and the water tube runs from the pump up the middle of the pot and out the hole in the top. You place the marbles in the concave top. The marbles cover up the hole and when the pump is turned on the water gently bubbles up, through marbles and down the sides.
