Last
December I went to a book exchange. The two most exciting things about the
exchange were hanging with my friends and the fact that my friend Kim gave me a
princess pumpkin along with a book. Thanksgiving was over, and she didn’t want
her pumpkin anymore. So I thought when it started to rot I would take out the
seeds and grow some cool pumpkins.
So I did.
I started them outside in pots during the spring and, oh joy, they started to sprout. I had seven pumpkin vines sprouting. I had big plans for these pumpkins: I would do a most artful and gorgeous arrangement with my beautiful deep orange princess pumpkins on my porch and maybe something on my table with the ones I had left over. I might even let the boys carve one of my valuable pumpkins. What fun.
Then there was the day I went out to plant the little pumpkin sprouts and I became witness to a horrible carnage. Some hideous creature had chewed six of the seven seedlings to the soil line.
I
planted the last surviving pumpkin sprout and three months later
my pumpkin crop looked like this.
My assistant and I harvest the pumpkin.
So
this is what my autumn-themed porch looks like now—minus my
assistant.
In
my mind my autumn porch looks like this:
You may only have one pumpkin, but it's a beauty. (Your asst. is cute too)
I also had my "gooligan" blossoms chewed down this year. I got a few cuties, but it was disappointing.

Chigiy,
Your Cindy punky (Cinderella pumpkin) is sooo cute. I swear you could take it down to Rodger at Bunches and he would sell it for $150.
Next year be sure to have your assistant Dashie make the cut above the stem. The dried gnarled stem is the best part. I wish I was as talented as you are so I don't have to spend so much coin at Bunches!
Xo
PS: When are you writing your blog about LEMO?!

jgh,
My assistant is my favorite pumpkin.
Kimmy,
Maybe I could trade my pumpkin for Rodger's duck.
I thought about the stem but it was already too late:(
How can we relate Lemo to gardening? I'm open to suggestions.
